FAQ

  • Who is therapy for?

Therapy is something so many people turn to, and for good reason. People of all ages and backgrounds seek support for all kinds of struggles—anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, stress, or just the everyday hard parts of being human. It’s completely normal to want a space where you can talk things through, feel understood, and learn tools that help life feel a little lighter. Therapy gives you that space. Whoever you are and whatever you’re going through, reaching out for support is a meaningful step toward feeling better and taking care of yourself here.

  • How long is a therapy session, and how often will we meet?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build consistency and momentum. As progress is made, some clients transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions, depending on their needs.

  • What can I expect in the first session?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, your goals, and any background that might be helpful. I’ll also answer any questions you may have about the process. Many clients leave the first session with a sense of relief, clarity, and a plan for moving forward.

  • Do you take insurance?

Yes, I currently accept ONLY Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBS IL), United Healthcare and Aetna. If you have another insurance provider, I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients also choose to use HSA/FSA cards for payment.

  • Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes, I offer both in-person and secure telehealth sessions. Virtual sessions provide flexibility and convenience while ensuring the same level of care and confidentiality as in-person appointments.

  • What issues do you specialize in?

I work with individuals, couples, and families on a wide range of challenges, including generational trauma, high functioning depression and anxious, parenting struggles, stress experienced by high achievers, adoption-related concerns, and cultural identity issues. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where healing and growth are possible.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

Life happens and emergencies may arise, which is why we want to make sure you understand our policy before you begin working with me.

As much as I want to be flexible every time something comes up, I appreciate your understanding that sessions cancelled within 24 hours of your appointment time will be charged for the full service fee.

Therapy works best when there’s consistency. When you schedule recurring sessions, your therapist sets aside that time just for you so you can have reliable support week after week. Because insurance only reimburses therapists for the time spent in session, clinicians depend on clients attending their scheduled appointments in order to sustain their practice. More importantly, steady attendance creates the conditions for real progress—healing happens when we show up for ourselves regularly.

  • How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Finding the right therapist is an important part of your healing journey—you deserve to work with someone who feels like a good fit. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consultation before we ever schedule a full session. This is a chance for us to talk, for you to share what you’re looking for, and for me to explain how I work.

During this call, you can ask questions, get a sense of my style, and notice how you feel in the conversation. There’s no pressure to decide on the spot. What matters most is that you feel safe, understood, and supported.

If it seems like we’d be a good match, we’ll move forward with scheduling your first session. And if it turns out I’m not the best fit, I’ll gladly provide referrals to trusted colleagues who may better meet your needs. My priority is making sure you receive the support that’s right for you.
